Defrag Tutorial

January 16, 2009
by

Hello everyone this is Kane back again.  I spent most of the morning mastering Vegas Studio Pro 8 and Hyper Cam 2 to put together this tutorial.  The tutorial shows how to defrag you computer in Vista and gives some pointers to XP users.

Now one of the main questions is why should you defrag your computer.  Well if you don’t your computer will run slow and applications will not opem up as fast.  It is good to get in the habit of defragmenting your computer once a week.

The other tip is that you should defrag your computer several times.  This will make sure that the whole hard drive is defragmented.  So it will ensure you that your computer will run faster.

Note: This does not mean the boot time will become less.  There are several other facters that need to be taken care of for boot time to go down.

So I hope you like the tutorial.  Just to give you a heads up I am thinking about doing one more tutorial today but it will get posted tomorrow.  So please leave comments on the tutorial I would really love to here what you have to say.  And hope to see you soon.

I checked my Vista laptop computer and it was configured for a scheduled defrag every Wednesday. I did not set it so I assume it was that way out of the box. You can also run the defrag from a command line. You have more options from the command line. I would also add that you should probably run disk cleanup before running the defrag.

Yeah that hit me after I finish doing the video about Disk clean up. Also I did remember hearing about doing the defrag in DOS which I am going to check out soon.
