Freedom

Hello every one.  Once again this is Kane.  Todays post is about what one person called freedom.  What it means to users be hind secure firewalls is Your-Freedom + Sockscap32.  These are two programs that the user can use to get around a firewall.  I will explain how this works in greater detail.  Thank I will put up the same steps as some one else wrote so you can do it your self.  But be warned you may get hit with viruses, trojan, and spyware.  So please be cautious when useing these programs.

Let me first explain about Sockcap32.  It is simple in design.  All it does is take the application you are using a forwards it to a part of your choosing.  This is helpful when you want a application to use a specific port and not one the it is programed to use.  So all you do is add the application to the list in Sockcape32 and then tell it what port you want to use.

Next if Your-Freedom.  This is a program that will allow you to connect to the Poxy servers called Your-Freedom server.  The program uses a default poxy port 1080.  This will allow a person to connect to their poxy servers and go out to the internet.  The diagram below shows how it works.  It is from their website.

Now here is were the problem lye.  This is a double edge sword.  For the user it maybe a plus, but for the security officer it maybe a protential problem.  The reason why is by using both of these programs they can play online games without a problem.  But now they can use peer to peer programs to do illegal downloads, and do other things that maybe against the law or company policy.  So this is where the security office will start running into problems.  The lan network can get flooded with viruses, trojans, bots, and othe mileware programs.  The reason for this is if a poxy server is affected it will also hit the user connected, from their it can spread to other computers and servers.

Below is insturction on how to setup your computer to get around firewalls.  Which is using World of Warcraft as an example.

(This is my own Tutorial..)
1. Tutorial on how to make Your Freedom work.
2. Register an account and wait 5 – 10 minutes. http://www.your-freedom.net/
3. Download Your Freedom from link.
4. Install the program.
5. Run through the Wizard, just press Next all the time.
6. At the server select, select the best suitable server to where your located..
7. All settings are ok as they are in the main window of Your Freedom. So dont play with them, if you dont know what your doing.

Now that you know how to work with Your Freedom, go to the lower tutorial and see how to make everything work ——————————————————————– Here is a tutorial   that i found in the Your Freedom forums.
Ill edit it a bit, so it has the downloads and stuff.. Here is a complete guide of how to get World of Warcraft working over Your freedom:

1. You only need one other program other than YF (Your Freedom) and WoW, this is SocksCap, which used to be available for download from Permeo’s web site but is no longer since the company was acquired by Blue Coat. Just google for it. The last released version is 2.40. If you can’t find it, send us an email and we’ll help you out.

2. Make sure YF is set so that the Socks 4/5 port is enabled and set to 1080 (that’s the default)

3. Open up SocksCap, click on File and then go to Settings and make sure the
SOCKS Settings tab looks like this:

With the SOCKS Server set to “localhost” and port set to “1080″

4. Now click on the “New” button on the Sockscap main window, then click on the browse button in the window that comes up. Go to the folder “C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft” (or wherever your WoW folder is stored) and double click on the program called WoW.exe.

The Sockscap main window should now look like this:

5. Make sure YF is connected to a European Server if you’re playing WoW in Europe, or to an American server if you are playing in America, as this will reduce lag in the game.

6. Once YF is connected, double click on the WoW icon in the main Sockscap window, or click on the WoW icon and then click on the “Run!” button. World of Warcraft will now run and connect to the WoW server when you log in. Happy Playing.

Tip from “qflame”
Accordingly, you can only play for 1 hour at a time.
After 1 hour, it automatically DC’s you and you have to write a code to enter again.
But qflame gives us the super cool information, that if you have an
account for 3 days and/or over, you will get a Pro membership Trial.
Giving you 6 hours of gameplay straight out. Now here comes his tip
Make alot of accounts and let them all get a Pro Membership Trial and there you go
Lots of hours of gameplay if you really are this much of a freak.
Of Course, just logging into the Your Freedom servers is just as easy, as it only takes
2 minutes or so, and your in again.
